Autumn, 2026

Think of these seasonal blog posts as something of a “blog within a blog.” An easy-breezy way to add new content (on a variety of topics). These are subject to editing right up to when the next new seasonal one begins. These are presented in reverse chronological order.

(2)  (Wednesday, September 30, 2026)   The Lost Interview

The other day I had an idea and wanted to quickly get it down in writing while it was bubbling in my brain. I thought of a great way to make my point. But needed to fact-check something first. Oh, I know, I thought, I’ll go to my Contact page. There’s a link there that will take me directly to what I need to check.

Cue (sad trombone) sound effect. That’s right, the interview has vanished!

If anyone can help. It’s an old interview with Sam Harris. Thomas May is the interviewer. Is there maybe a way to find it using the Wayback Machine archive? (I have a printed copy somewhere — but I don’t know where.)

C’est la vie.

(1)  (Wednesday, September 30, 2026)   Not Reader Friendly

Ever since the New York Times redesigned their Magazine (found in the Sunday edition) I’ve noticed the new version is simply awful. Every week I say to myself Don’t they know there are people — like my mom — who love their paper, but have macular degeneration or some other vision problem and their new format is making it very difficult for them? Case in point:  In the September 20, 2026 edition, on pages 21, 22-23, 28, 34, 35, 44, 45, 50 and 51, the headlines are sloppily hand drawn with magic marker — sometimes sideways — in print so big one word might take up half the page. Then a week later in the September 27 edition there were two photos in which the captions were printed so tiny there’s no way my mom would be able to read them.

Additionally, they’re now routinely beginning the weekly interview in reverse print. I don’t have a copy in front of me right now, so it’s hard to visualize, but it does it in such a way that even someone with good eyesight would have a hard time separating the question from the answer.
